DON’T WAIT FOR ME, “I WON’T BE ABLE TO COME” (1)

It is hard to be a curator nowadays, what is there to  say! The articles written in a short time, the answers given “!” It is impossible not to laugh wickedly. The covered but easily revealed commercial fairy tales, fantasies, weaknesses, handicaps, and the financial forces behind them are coming to the surface one by one. Let’s put those aside, but which ideology, which country, which foundation or which association is supporting them? I am guessing the answers but why don’t you know them? Or are you afraid to tell gentlemen!

It’s a shame, besides we had told you that you were standing on a slippery ground, that you should watch out or you would fall… And there were ones who fell! Well that was good! Everyone gets what they deserve, and that is what’s right.

And I was saying I would write a manifesto once I am done with my military service, be “the public curator”, organize one or two exhibitions for them… But I changed my mind. I sold quite a few paintings while I was here, so I decided to open a restaurant. Maybe I’ll hire a cook who makes American food and work with him. As I heard, Ali Akay opened a restaurant and was bankrupt even :) Once every two days American directors and commitees from IMF come here anyway. “It’s not that I’m not thinking” (2) these guys will one day come and seize the country. Then we will come on the scene, solve the problem, and develop a dialogue. I’m afraid we will have to save the country again!

Actually I had good projects in mind compared to the “arabesque conceptualists”; better than the easiness of cutting random news off newspapers and sticking them on a background again randomly… What was the name of that girl, the one who walked around naked having her pictures taken; I couldn’t find one for my soldier friends to rejoice! But no! They would say “What is that, I don’t like it” and throw it to my face, our friendship would be damaged. Anyway, I was reading someone’s interview, someone from that group. She was saying; “In my next Project, I will film a woman working in a whorehouse the whole day and turn in into video art.” Woow such avantgardism! And the public will watch this, what a great idea. Well of course we should look at this with a “sociological soul” (i.e. Ali Akay’s The Soul of Art and Sociology) and carress it to be able to write at least 10 pages about it but let’s leave that, it’s not our field.

And what about sponsors? What do we do if we can’t find a sponsor; we put a curator in between or do something with the ideas the sponsor will give us. And by the way, if that girl had put herself in the place of a woman in a whorehouse, and one had filmed the other, wouldn’t that have been “something” more “avantgarde” (3) ? Does anyone have the guts to do that kind of art? I will call our conceptual artists “softened conceptualists” from now on! “Hahaa you’re so funny dude!” (4)

This is what was bound to happen with the “good money” coming in and the artist sitting in his studio like a sheep waiting for his shepherd. Oh artist, what have you become? Where is your energy, your objecting side, your dreams? Where is your transforming force, your heart?
Pohh.. pohhh!
